Construction operations will present delays to motorists next week in the Village of Deerfield.
Waukegan Road (Route 43) and Deerfield Road
Monday: Daytime lane closures will be in place 9:30 am through 2 pm as the contractor removes the existing pavement surface through the intersection.
Tuesday & Wednesday: Daytime lane closures will be in place as the contractor installs traffic signal detector loops for the new traffic signals.
Friday: Daytime lane closures will be in place 5:30 am through 10 am as the contractor places the new asphalt surface through the intersection of Waukegan Road and Deerfield Road. Upon completion of paving in this intersection, the contractor will then move to Highland Park to continue paving operations on the northern portion of Deerfield Road near Ridge Road.
Additionally, some remaining concrete work will take place next week in downtown Deerfield and in various locations throughout the project limits. This work will also result in day time lane closures and delays to motorists.
Moving forward, the contractor works toward completing brick paver replacement in Deerfield and completing the remaining concrete work (project wide). In the next 2-3 weeks, the contractor will begin diamond grinding of the new concrete pavement in the Village of Deerfield which will result in a smoother ride. Activation of the new traffic signals and overhead detection system at the Metra viaduct in the Village of Deerfield is planned for the last week in May.
